Supporting Students Observing Ramadan
Welcome! This Student Hub page explains how we support students observing Ramadan at school, including attendance, wellbeing, and prayer needs.
Step 1: Let Us Know You’re Fasting
How to inform us:
- A letter is sent to all parents/carers about Ramadan.
- If you are observing Ramadan, your parent/carer should email your Head of Year.
What happens next?
- Your Head of Year informs your teachers and Student Support Worker.
- Your Student Support Worker will speak to you about the support you can receive in school:
- Your Student Support Worker will issue you with a Ramadan Rest Card if you would like one. .
- Your Student Support Worker will show you how to access prayer and wudu facilities if you would like to use them.
Step 2: Attendance
Arriving at school:
- If you are fasting you are welcome to arrive at school by 9:30 a.m. if needed.
- Please try to attend school every day whenever possible.
Step 3: Wellbeing Support
What if I feel tired or need a rest?
- Use your Ramadan Rest Card for short breaks.
What about my lessons that are physically demanding like PE, Dance, Drama?
- Teachers will adapt lesson intensity as needed.
What if I am feeling unwell?
- Visit the Medical Room or Student Centre.
I would like a space to pray?
- Use the Multi-Faith Prayer Room located inside the Student Centre.
- Wudu facilities are available.
Tips for Students:
- Stay hydrated and eat a balanced diet when you can.
- Take breaks if you feel tired.
- Speak to your Tutor, Student Support Worker or Head of Year if you need support - your wellbeing matters!
