Supporting Students Observing Ramadan

Welcome! This Student Hub page explains how we support students observing Ramadan at school, including attendance, wellbeing, and prayer needs.

Step 1: Let Us Know You’re Fasting

How to inform us:

  • A letter is sent to all parents/carers about Ramadan.
  • If you are observing Ramadan, your parent/carer should email your Head of Year.

What happens next?

  • Your Head of Year informs your teachers and Student Support Worker.
  • Your Student Support Worker will speak to you about the support you can receive in school:
  • Your Student Support Worker will issue you with a Ramadan Rest Card if you would like one. .
  • Your Student Support Worker will show you how to access prayer and wudu facilities if you would like to use them.

Step 2: Attendance

Arriving at school:

  • If you are fasting you are welcome to arrive at school by 9:30 a.m. if needed.
  • Please try to attend school every day whenever possible.

Step 3: Wellbeing Support

What if I feel tired or need a rest?

  • Use your Ramadan Rest Card for short breaks.

What about my lessons that are physically demanding like PE, Dance, Drama?

  • Teachers will adapt lesson intensity as needed.

What if I am feeling unwell?

  • Visit the Medical Room or Student Centre.

I would like a space to pray?

  • Use the Multi-Faith Prayer Room located inside the Student Centre.
  • Wudu facilities are available.

Tips for Students:

  • Stay hydrated and eat a balanced diet when you can.
  • Take breaks if you feel tired.
