Post 16 Support and Revision

At The Castle School Sixth Form, we support students throughout Years 12 and 13 as they prepare for A-level and Level 3 qualifications, alongside their next steps into university, apprenticeships or employment.

Success at Post-16 requires independence, organisation and consistent study habits. Alongside high-quality teaching, we provide structured guidance to help students develop effective revision routines and strong exam technique.

Year 12

Year 12 focuses on building strong academic foundations.

Students are supported to:

  • Develop effective independent study routines

  • Use study periods productively

  • Organise subject notes and materials

  • Prepare for end-of-year internal examinations

Year 12 internal exams are important in informing predicted grades and progression into Year 13.

Year 13

Year 13 focuses on consolidation and exam readiness.

Students receive:

  • A structured revision planner

  • Study skills guidance

  • Subject-specific revision support

  • Exam technique and practice opportunities

We encourage students to treat mock examinations and Pre-Public Examinations (PPEs) seriously, as they provide valuable feedback and help identify areas for improvement ahead of the final exams.

Students are expected to take ownership of their revision by planning their time carefully and acting on feedback from teachers.
