Information for Residents of Park Road, Tilting Road, Victoria Close, Hyde Avenue, Regents Close and Alexandra Way

Park Road temporary road closure - Monday 24 June through to Friday 28 June

Please note that Park Road will be closed to motor vehicles in front of The Castle School, marked in red on the map below, between 8.15am – 8.45am and 2.50 – 3.20pm on Monday 24 June through to Friday 28 June.

This is to support The Castle School’s Active Travel Ambassadors campaign, a week long campaign to encourage more children to walk, cycle and scoot to school and for those that have a longer distance to travel to park 5-10 minutes away and walk the rest to school.  The campaign has been created by the students for the students, to improve their school environment, health, wellbeing and safety when travelling to school.

The aim of the campaign is to improve local air quality and make it safer and easier for students to walk and cycle to school by reducing the number of children driven to school by car.

Actively travelling to and from school is an opportunity for children to be physically active, connect with their community and develop their independence and road safety skills. When more families walk, scoot or cycle this every day journey, there are fewer cars on the road, helping tackle congestion, air pollution, climate change and traffic danger outside school gates.

If you would normally drive along Park Road at these times, please follow the diversion signage erected at the junctions of Park Road and Church Road, Tilting Road and Severn Drive and Park Road and Dean Avenue, marked below with the pink arrows.

For residents on Park Road within the closure zone - Where possible we ask residents to avoid exiting or entering their property with a car at the school closure zone times.  However, we understand that this isn’t always possible so if you live within the closure points you can request up to 2 permits (window stickers) for your vehicles.  Residents within the closure point have been sent a letter providing information on how to request a permit.  Residents will need to ensure the permit is clearly displayed in the windscreen when entering or exiting the school closure zone.  We also kindly ask residents to avoid having any deliveries being made in these times as the vehicles will not be allowed to enter the school closure zone.
