COVID-19 School Testing

Home testing kits are available for students to take home to continue the regular testing activity.  The kits will be given out during their tutor time at regular intervals. 
If your child develops symptoms of COVID 19, they must not come to school/setting and should remain at home .  Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for a PCR test (the normally available test type) and this can be arranged via https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.   Further information is available at:  https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance

NHS Test and Trace: COVID-19 Testing for Staff

Testing for those without coronavirus symptoms is quick using COVID 19 tests known as ‘lateral flow devices’.   

Below is some information about the testing programme at The Castle School.

Along with the other protective measures we are taking, testing will allow us to take further measures to help staff members to remain in school.  Up to one third of people who have coronavirus are asymptomatic.  By testing we will help to reduce the spread in school through asymptomatic transmission.  We therefore encourage those working in school to be tested, however this is a voluntary process.

The current recommendation from the DfE is that Staff members can test themselves twice weekly with home testing kits until further notice.
